..This Generation...

What is the deal peeps!

First thing I gotta say, I never, in a million years, would never think a black man would be in the White house...

Anything can happen now for real. I'm expecting tomorrow we'll be building condos and shopping malls on Mars... I heard Starbucks & McDonalds was already there...lol
Now all we have to do is rub Obama's head or something and see if that goodness rubs off on us getting signed! lol Just kidding for you critics out there... unless it works!?!?

THIS GENERATION

You got to admit, we seen a lot happen in this generation haven't we?

We see the the start of the first ever music video and a channel that broadcast it live 24/7...

Can you name the first 3 videos to aire on MTV? And what's crazy about this is the third one had the word FU_K in it. lol crazy right?!?!?
Who was the first black artist to air their video on MTV? & Which video was it? Leave a comment on the bottom if you know the answer...

Do you guys remember when the Berlin Wall came Down. I guess cats over in Germany never seen that coming like us with Mr. Obama huh?

We Seen the shock of the world when the Twin Towers went down! Where were you when that happened? When i first seen it on the tv screen, I thought it was movie at first i can't lie to ya. I'm like, man, Steven Spielberg is no joke with those speical effects word up lol.
But it was only too real when it finally sunk in what really was going on..

Then we seen what Hurricane Katrina did to our beloved New Orleans.
How crazy was that? But it is looking much better down there. Go out over the spring time for their annual Jazz Fest! Good Music, and really Great FOOD mmmm.

But the Ultimate was seeing this cat right thuuurr finally getting caught!
Now that might be more of a shocker than even having a Black President... We all knew he did it the first time around, but since we were black, and too many ish was going on with LAPD, we had to cheer for my main man Orenthal James Simpson!
They already busted up Rodney King pretty badly, ------>
so we had to go hard @ the justice system.
But now, that nigg@ gotta go word up.

What's going on my ZUNE peoples...

H.O.F. (Hall of Fame)

Hailing out of Chicago, these boys are the future.
Hall of Fame, the Chicago duo of Rondezvous and Dinky are different: They blend styles in fashions that come across so smoothly, with such a groove that you get caught off guard. The sounds that they bring to a performance blend rap and Rhythm & Blues into a sound that has an undeniable hook. You will remember both the melodies AND the vocal flows. Their songs are very listenable. No doubt...

BUTTA VERSES

This is my homeboy. We did a song together a few years back called SICKNESS.. If you haven't you should check that song out. BV just released his album called "REALITY BV" and you can buy it on Amazon.com and iTunes.
Butta Verses, a Bronx-bred rapper who now calls Fort Lauderdale, Florida home, made his debut appearance on De La Soul’s 2004 release The Grind Date spitting back to back with Posdonus on the song “No.” Butta’s name was bestowed upon him by fellow MCs at local ciphers but once his mixtape reached the ears of DJ Maseo from De La Soul, his rhymes started reaching neighborhoods around the world.

"Spiritual"

Hell everyone.
I'm still too excited about the release of our CD. Its been a long time coming for real. I can't even begin to get into how loooooooooog this was in the making!
Big shout out to REVERBNATION for making this a reality. An absolutely great site for established and up-&-coming artist, spoken word poets, DJ's, venue owners, promoters you name it, if you want to get their music & ideas heard to the masses, this is a good way of doing it.
I recommend this site to you or anyone else who fits the bill.
www.reverbnation.com
The best part about it, is that its free! (for now anyway lol)

So as my excitement haunts me that the EP is out for purchase, I stroll on the internet to check out some of the online retailers and to make sure that we're there. iTunes is taking their sweet time hooking us up. Amazon was the first to go live with our EP, so I'll just look to see if anyone left any comments about the CD.

* Yeah, sad but true, but even if we blow up overnight (wishful thinking) i still would be that cat whose up constantly checking out everything, reading reviews, communicating with fans and writing blogs to keep everyone up to date. ( yeah I'm anal retentive like that, ask Ever Wonder)*

I look into Rhapsody and see that the EP info is up and in order. And while I'm investigating, I discover this cool site called MOD where you can share play list with just about anyone. Pretty cool. So next I head over to Napster, and everything looks in order.
So lastly go to eMusic and finally see that its available for purchase. Everything looks OK until I look under genre, & noticed what they had us listed under for genre. They have us listed as Spiritual. Whaa??? Not Hip-hop, or even soul. Hell, i would of took R&B as a mistake but spiritual? Not even Christian rap?

Now don't get me wrong, I'm all about spirituality like the next man, but LFR genre spiritual???
And of course we had to list our music with the explicit tag which makes it even funnier. lol Now I could take this in other ways which can be cool, but I'm a let you out there let me know how we should take it.
I tell you what, go online and buy our album, then let me know or not if its huh, "spiritual"

R.I.P. Oscar Grant

This is Nuts! I'm sure many of you will agree after reading if you don't know the full story yet. This is nuts statement is not even tipping the scale on what should really be said about this incident.
So I'm going to leave a blank in the sentence below for you to fill in the exact word or words you really feel like using:

THIS IS _____________ NUTS!

I couldn't believe this story when i first heard about it. But with all the news and videos flooding in from everywhere, its certainly upsetting to see what's going on in our own back yard! If you haven't heard, an 22 year old young man, Oscar Grant was shot in Oakland, California on New Year's Day in the back by a police officer that caused his untimely death.
What's really crazy about it is how it happened...
They actually placed him on his stomach to be searched and or handcuffed, but moments afterwards, Officer Johannes Mehserle, pulls out his gun, (what for?!?!) and shoots the 22 year old in the back as he was already subdued. Tons of onlookers captured this slaying on video and posted the clips everywhere.
A crazy situation! Totally uncalled for and I'm wondering & waiting to see how they'll wiggle themselves out of this one.

Well here's a link to the story, and some video to watch: brace yourself.

09 on the radar!

Finally the album is out. the EP that is...

LEFT FIELD RHYTHMS PRESENTS:
L.F.R. the EP
Please head online and purchase that new new from your up-and-coming hip-hop/soul/ rock stars.
www.amazon.com
www.napster.com
www.rhapsody.com

iTunes & eMusic coming real soon! Its not the total package of what we really wanted to release, but its something for all you peeps out there who really support us fully. We wanna say thanks for sticking around. We hope you continue to stick around. Yes our lineup has changed. Some of you may remember we had a few different members in the group. This 7 song EP pretty much tells the story of our influences with all who were apart of the group at one point in time or another. In fact, track # 7 " what's on your mind " is kinda a tribute to those whose not in the group anymore. Shout out to the extended family members...

Anywho, here's the track list and some personal Liner Notes for all my peoples.

1) Intro/ We Here Now feat. Buddha LuvJonz

coming up with this track was the best way we could think of letting the world know who we are. It was actually one of the last tracks we made for the album, and one we really liked. Buddha is not only a talented DJ but an even better spoken word artist. We always wanted to do a track with him, and this pretty much came together. We added Justice vocals a little later and when he came with that line" beating the chest like Denzel & king Kong top of the world meng"... yeah that's exactly how we were feeling after recording it.

2) Welcome To Our World feat. Shoshannah

Shosha called me up letting me hear this crazy hook she wrote. Once I heard it and listen to the concept, everything else came into place. We were going through a lot at this time, trying to get signed, getting dissed, lost some members, you name it, we were going through it. Even just getting up together was getting difficult at times. That's the concept behind this song. Welcome to the world of an unsigned artist. This was one of Shosha's gems. The way she changed up her voice in this track with that oprah-ish tone was crazy. She truly is an amazing singer. She went on a roll after writing this one. 'TGIF" and "Warning" which featured RAIN became crazy hot tracks as well. Maybe one day we'll get the chance to release them. Another side note, Ever Wonder wasn't with the group @ the time we recorded this. So we added him later to the track. It was good hearing him back with the crew.

3) Comfort Now

We did this show in Phoenix and met up with this cat named AMD the Audible Doctor. Before the show, we were all kicking it and he played us this CD he just finished which was a tribute to the late James Brown. Sick, this cat have some flav word up. He hit us with this beat, which he actually called Comfort Now due to the sample on the hook, and Ever Wonder was all over it. We took it back to the old "dissing all whack emcees out there" kinda song. One of our favorite topics of course lol. In the words of the ForEver Wonder, "To sum it all up, bring it back home"... the start of the song had Justice and I amped beyond words could say. Justice lyrics were hot shouting out of the greats in hop-hop we all looked up too had the real heads listening. Working with Ever wonder & Justice always reminds me how much of a fan I am of hip-hop.

4) Let's Motivate

Ego trippin jawn. Plain and simple. The jump off track. Another track we had to add Ever Wonder to. This was one we love to perform to. But the remix of this song, which the band plays makes this song even better.

5) After Dark feat. Shari "Birdie" Baby

This is to me the essence of LFR especially when the girls were rocking with us. Before this track, we had another we did a remix of a song Birdie had called "Main Girl". It just was a vocal track, then Just and myself got on it and used the Clap instrumental from Soulive. I let Kraz and Neil from Soulive hear the track we did and they thought I was Mos Def; but they liked it anyway. The harmonies at the end of Main Girl was bananas between Birdie and Shosha.
We wrote this track in the park, after dark. my favorite track we ever did. Not only because I just like it, but it was the first track we all were back together again, actually, the first day Ever came back to the group. He hates this song by the way. Birdie was/is the star on this song. Once we heard that melody she came up with, we knew something was sparked! The chemistry on this cut improved the motivation on all levels with LFR. This cut was also the last time Ever, Just, Shosha, and Birdie along with myself made a song together. Keep your fingers crossed, who knows what the future may bring.

6) What You Want

No names, but the cat who produced this track is one of the most talented individuals I've met. And this track doesn't even show none of the potential this dude has. Once he's back, we're going to crate some serious gems once more. I actually hate this song personally, but everyone else loves it. Ever totally shines on this track.

7) What's On Your Mind

What's so crazy about this song, is the fact that everyone we talked about in the song left the group. Espy, another member of LFR past, heard it was was like, wow, everyone in the song isn't part of LFR. And i was like, well Shosha still is. When Ever wrote his verse, shosha was still full committed to LFR, in fact, in the backgrounds and the chorus, its actually her voice you hear besides mines. it was almost like foreshadowing or like Espy knew something we didn't know was going to happen. Either way, that's the tribute song. Shout outs to DJ Danny Williams, Shoshannah, Espy, and Birdie word up.

B.A.M. Festival

Shout out to Peter Finch ( Bridgeport's
Mayor Finch's son) for putting on a great show bringing that feel good back to Bridgeport. We need more movements like this. Can't wait for the next one. B.A.M. Festival (Bridgeport Arts & Music) was a HUGE success! Acts like the Jazz Guild, Rain, Omar, Apple Pirates, St. Bernadette, left Field Rhythms, and others came out to a free show, with free Food & liquor. Free food & drinks, and free entertainment?!? * extra shout out to the Apple Pirates and my new main man Warner for showing us love and hooking us up word up*

Show Alert - March 12th @ 21 Daniel Street in Milford Apple Pirates with special guest: Left Field Rhythms
